Portrait Parties
Are you looking for a different idea for a birthday party. What could be better for young girls than getting together as a group and have their hair and make-up professionally done before being photographed in a photographic studio. We recently hosted a birthday portrait session in our studio for Khyla and Erin, both celebrating their 7th birthday. Eight young girls started their party by being picked up by a pink limo from Hollywood Cars.
Once they arrived at the studio, we had the music videos on in the studio on our 100 inch screen and the TV. The music is also available in the changing room. Some research (asking my daughters) and downloads of JLS, Cheryl Cole, Lady Gaga, and other appropriate music, and the mood was set. All the girls had their hair done by Steph and their make up done by Caroline, both professionals and glamorous examples of their jobs.

Last Thursday Dave Ogston called us to see if we could take a family portrait of a group of 7 and a small dog, which is not an unusual type of enquiry. However he went on to ask if he could have a framed print to present for a 70th birthday on the Saturday. Greig discussed it with me and he got Dave to a pre-agree to a 20×16 and also chose a black frame.
The portrait was booked for Friday evening at 7.30pm and Andy took a good range of shots, and Greig stayed back to create the files and select the best one.
There was one where everyone except one of the younger sitters had a good expression so Lukas (our Photoshop expert) exchanged the head from another photograph and the file was ready and the print was made, dry mounted, and framed, ready for collection at 10.00am on Saturday morning when 3 of the family collected it from me, and were delighted with the print, and the service.
Delivering this quickly where we have to choose the image is not reccomended but this story highlights what is possible if neccessary.

Now that we are well into October, many people are starting to think about Christmas.We have sent out details of our portrait offer to some of our database. I thought long and hard about what to offer and hope that the 1/2 price sitting along with 1/2 price canvas wall portraits will encourage people to get a family portrait done or give a gift voucher for a present that will be remembered and treasured for a long time.
We are offering sittings on Saturday’s and Sunday’s and as our studio is easy to get to and we have a car park, it should be easy to get all the family to come along. The sitting in our beautiful new studio will be fun, and even those who dread getting their photograph taken usually enjoy the session.
The viewing appointment is also good fun when you can choose from great products including canvas, acrylic, aluminium, or beautifully framed prints. We can let you visualise them hanging on your wall to scale (if you give us a photograph of where they are going to hang) and ensure you get something beautiful to enhance your home.
